“Lors de la Digital Conference de Londres (avril 2011), Evan Schittman avait pourtant annoncé la mort des livres-applications (une pierre tombale avec pour épitaphe : « eBooks enrichis et applications : 2009-2011″ servait ainsi de démonstration Power Point) ou plutôt : leur nécessaire diminution. Ces objets ont en effet d’abord rendu ivres les éditeurs avant qu’ils ne se rendent compte à leurs dépens que leurs coûts étaient trop difficiles à assumer (une application livre soignée, avec une ligne éditoriale solide et un minimum d’ambition peut coûter – dans le meilleur des cas - plusieurs dizaines de milliers d’euros) et devaient donc se limiter à quelques réalisations exceptionnelles.”
